Mk1 1 new guards

Postby cossie55 » Mon Mar 31, 2014 12:04 pm

Looking for some new front guards for a Mk1 Escort.

I am going to cut them up quite a bit to add the steel flares, so looking for the cheaper style standard Mk1 guards....

anyone know where I could get some?

Not really, but will need a little work..

Knowing panel beaters hourly rate, a new guard of around $200-250 will probably be better value than him fixing the back bottom corners (the usual rust spots) and straightening out the little marks here and there on them.

Given that a new panel will probably need a bit of fitting anyway, the cost may not work out in favour of a new one.

Hi Jamie, I used a really good panel beater in Keysborough recently for my group n car. He did a great job on my rear 1/4s taking out dints, cutting out some rust and fitting new wheel arch replacement sections. A proper panel beater that loves old fords and is very reasonably priced. Could be worth a try. Joe 9769 0954
