Reduction Starter Motors

Hi all, I just bought a gear reduction starter from Burtons, I was unsure exactly which one to get so i took a punt on the 10 tooth, today i find out the existing one is 9 tooth. In the catalog, both starters say they suit a 110 tooth ring gear. I can get a 9 tooth gear and fit it myself if i need to. So has anyone run into this before? Will a 10 tooth work?

It's the 1.4kW version, 199 pounds, so whatever that equates to. Shipping was 146 pounds for the starter, bellhousing & a bunch of rubbers.

Just measured the 10 tooth gear and it has the same outside diameter and base diameter as the 9 tooth gear on the existing starter.

You paid too much Scott as you could have bought a 1.6kw new one out of Victoria for less than that
As long as the diameters correct it should work fine as I've used the 10's on puchrods without any issues and if you want to check it I have some spare pinions stashed

Just a quick follow-up for those interested, I haven't had any problems with the 10 tooth pinion setup. Sofar it seems to be a very good starter.
