Anything happening in WA

Postby Danny M » Sat Sep 22, 2012 7:27 am

Is there anything happening in Perth between the 26th of September and the 1st of October as I'm over for the week and may need a little diversion

Haven't you heard? Nothing ever happens in Perth! Now that's not quite true, but in the event that there is nothing interesting on that week, perhaps we could make something happen. I for one would love to see some of the great cars out there that are inspiring me to get on with my project, and have chat with their owners. Any takers?

I did see this event, not sure if I will compete, anyone know if the scrutineers there will look over my Mk1 even if I don't compete? I would like to know what I need to do to get it to adhere to CAMS logbook regs before Collie next month. Or is the scrutineering event specific?

***edit, I am a fully paid member of CAMS and WASCC.

Could be worth a shot but just ring the WASCC and ask - they are helpful. Also would be curious to see if WASCC members get discount as they should compared with other clubs.

Normally there is a pre-season audit / scrutineering early in the year - see standing regs

Regularities are great events - you can still go as fast as you like, you get proper timing, good benchmarking against other cars and yourself, good track time, no aggro.

So after taking my entry 3 weeks ago (and my entry fee), it turns out that I am ineligible to enter the Collie LF speed series next weekend. What else is happening in WA in the next few weeks?

Not sure they didn't explain it very well, however I think it may be a state final? I have not completed enough events in the last 12 months to qualify. It could just be a condition of entry, I'm not sure. They said I had to do more speed events to do speed events, so they either meant not theirs or not this weekend. I'm not too worried, it was in the entry details and I missed it, it's just they accepted it, then three weeks later must have worked out the mistake, I was rushing to get the car ready for scrutineering, but at least it's done now.

I had looked at that previously, however the car is currently set up for circuit racing. I do plan on installing a passenger seat, etc and getting into a little Tarmac rallying, so may look into it a little more, although looking at past results, you may be able to run solo? The event regs don't state exactly, so if you revert to the Rallysprint standing Regs, I suppose it's ok? Plus its all tarmac, no gravel? Cheers

You need a co-driver (navigator), but yes it's all tarmac and quite fast along the bottom of the drag strip. I think there is some in car video in my project thread.

But if you want racing then the next event is the "INTERNATIONAL HISTORIC CHALLENGE, FRIDAY 10TH – SUNDAY 11TH NOVEMBER 2012, BARBAGALLO RACEWAY WANNEROO WA"

Cheers mate, I will look into that event more too. I am just trying to work out where the car fits in. I remember looking at the Rallysprint event before, and the regs state 8.5" tyres only, mine runs 10" all round. The other thing is I have been told that it may not qualify as historic as it has been chopped (space frame, glass panels, etc) and while I am led to believe the car has been around for a while, the log book only goes back to 91 (I've been told that it is a 'replacement' log book, but with gaps) I am trying to find out more about the car, the roll cage is stamped 81. Getting there, slowly...
