I could be wrong as I have never taken any measurements, but I am pretty sure Mk1 and Mk2 are the same. Only difference maybe imperial to metric thread for rack and pinion bolts(?)

It is for a sr yes. just one for me though . I have a jig for the members but In case it gets bent or something I'm gonna make one to put one away . Not much time to work on cars these days .

This thread does raise a question though? When does an Escort stop being an escort?

Danny, you criticised him for using a Nissan engine but your car has a Toyota diff (as does mine) and a hollinger box (I think).

I think it's best to keep cars relatively competition/rally class legal so probably wouldn't use an SR20 but unless it's concourse does it matter? Everyone loves Colin Mcraes car but last time I looked there wasn't many Fomoco parts left...

Also I would use a Ford gearbox and diff if I could get a front exit diff and a gearbox that would handle the squirt without resorting to a nine inch and a top loader

I'm sure this bloke could have the same argument - name a turbo Ford four that you can pick up at a wreckers with ECU for $1000... And apparently they are good for a @#$% load of power.

I was also going to suggest using a Mk1 cross member as the biggest they've hanging off them is a 1300, but seem this one has moved focus since my last post. Try Ford Wreckers at Redcliffe as they should have some spares.
