2.4 L big bore Pinto

Looking for a big bore high HP Pinto for Targa Escort, anyone know of any Connaught Warrior or Esslinger units available in OZ ?. I know it wont be cheap!. Thanks.

not sure how you would go with an Esslinger engine under Targa regs. Uses a custom block doesn't it??

Goodluck finding an available engine here, even if you found one.
You don't need huge power for Targa Tassie. The road base is rough and traction is always an issue. 240hp+
Goodluck lasting the first day with the conditions they have sometimes.

no offence to anybody except the rule makers for
improved production & the like
i do come from a background of
group g rally cars
& sports sedans etc
even group c ( production touring)
these category rules were more consistent & sensible
than current regs

Current Targa regs permit the engine to be increased up to 17% and supp regs provide freedom for heads (in the most modified class). So a 2.3 Pinto with a Warrior/Holbay/YB head is possible so high 200's Hp would be available? Restricted to 15 x 7 rims though.

17% over standard capacity (sorry, forgot a word in previous post) so 1996 (I think??) x 1.17 = 2335cc

Can go +/- 2" in width over standard rim width and +/-2" diameter. Aspect ratio is also restricted based on age but most Escorts could go to 40's if you can find such a tyre. Doesn't make for much rubber for a higher power motor.

I have a 4.88 diff although not that high a power level.
