na cossie $$$

Postby neil » Sun Jan 22, 2012 3:42 pm

Hi Guys,
I have the chance to purchase a second hand NA cossie engine out of a open wheeler race car.
It has 48mm Webers, dry sump and pump, forged pistons, open wheeler exhaust, Carillo type rods, standard crank and was dynoed some time ago at around 250 bhp, it revs to 8000 easily and the cams are quite mild so it wouldn't be too bad on the road car.
That's all the info I have, how much do you guys think would be a fair price keeping in mind it would probably need a freshen up.
cheers neil

I would take a stab at around 6-7000 AUD, depending on how many hours it's done. A good ported head, the webers and the dry sump would make this a good buy even if you have to rebuild the motor. With the exchange rate at the moment the timing is right.....

And Jim111 had an all new engine for sale for $8000!
Mk 2 Escort Sports Sedan 2L N/A YB Cosworth engine rebuild completed. 100% Mongrel FORD...actually Oz block & crank, Yankee pistons, English head & rods, Ozzie cams & valves!

a yb is not a bdg but its gotta be the next best thing
maybe apart from a duratec
its a real pity nobody makes a bda type cam cover
for duratec or yb , only zetec

I suppose it depends on what I want to do with as it would need some mods to make it suitable for a road car.
