Points Gap Bosch Dizzy?

what are points and why do they need a gap

Thanks Roger. I was pretty close but it won't start now at all. Think the condenser has died.

Changed the Coil and Condensor, no joy!! Changed the points to another 2nd hand set, Bingo!! My memory tells me that this is the second set of points that has failed in this car. Weird!! Any suggestions?

Gary,

if these were new points then they have an oxidation on the surface which does not conduct current.
Rub it off with a bit of sandpaper.

No guys it was the old set that I had just pulled out to give them a file. The car had been playing up with apparent spark issues in the morning. The joys of having to depend on a 33 year old car to get you 120k's return to work every day!

Pull the disi out of the mk 1 as you wont be using that for a while
