The tight stuff could be fine - but some of the runs are 250m+ and the Fiat Abarth just out-classes me on pure grunt!

#1 - Must check trailer wheel nuts more often:

Hence one trailer wheel lost into the bush on way to event...

#2 - Now I have fixed the leak in the rear hydraulics’ the rear left caliper seizes every time I touch the hydraulic handbrake (so effectively ran the first 10 stages with the rear brakes on)







I should have taken the hint when the wheel fell off the trailer, but it was all good driving experience anyhow. We reckon maybe third in class - results will be out on Tuesday.

Google to the rescue again - It turns out a hydraulic handbrake and R31 calipers aren’t the best match. The extra leverage of the handbrake causes the internal ratchet mechanism to come into play and others have had the same issue with them jamming on.

But it turns out Commodore VS rear calipers will bolt to the same mount the they don't have the internal ratchet so it should be a easy cheap fix!

Stage resultas have been posted and it's not as bad as I imagined.

I was second in class and even with all the brake drama's still 21.9 second slower than the Fiat. We did actually manage to beat him on 6 of the 22 stages, and were within less than a second of him on another 10...

My handbrake induced spins on stage 5 & 6 looked to have cost us 4 and 6 seconds each.

On well I have the VSCC Stampede in two weeks time at Barbegello Raceway and then I think it's time to pull the car and engine down for a freshen up.

Anyone got a decent ported big valve head they want to sell?
