Problems - 5 spd Type 9 gearbox

I recently completed a track day at Oran Park in my 2L MK2 Escort Tramac rally car which has a 5 spd type 9 gearbox.

Before the event oil levels were topped up with Castrol 80W oil.

During the event after ~15 laps it became very hard to get into 3rd gear, then also hard to get into 2nd gear a few laps later. Checked the clutch operation and all seemed to be OK. Pitted to checked the gearbox and found that it was hard to get into any gear when the engine off and car stationary but using the clutch. Very difficult to then get into 1st gear without grinding the gears. Could get into 2nd then shift back to 1st using some force.

Later in the afternoon after approx another 20 laps the selection of all gears got easier but not right! Little or no grinding when the revs were right. I dont feel that there is any serious damage????

Questions:
What is the likely cause of these symptons?

Is it likely to be syncro rings damaged?

Is it also likely that the slector forks are bent?

Finally, I have a spare type 9 gearbox.
Can any one recommend a company to rebuild this gearbox for rally use or where I can buy the parts?

Alternatively, are these boxes difficult to rebuild yourself (I have build other gearboxes before)?

Does anyone have a workshop manual that I could borrow or buy?

Thanks for your suggestion. Will check for loose gear lever however it did not feel loose whilst driving but will still check.

Cant remember what the original Ford spec oil was for Type 9 5 speeds
But these days usually use something like Castrol SMX

The box was full of Castrol VMX80 at the time that I had the problem.

Following further investigation it seems tha I have damaged the synchros as the gearbow still drives OK without any nasty noises just hard to get into 1st & 3rd. Looks like its been driven too hard and caused synchro damage.

Another mate of mind says that AMZOIL would be best to use as it slows the synchro rings down enough to allow smooth engagement during race applications. Apparently something they used to do in the Starions during the Production Touring car days. Any comments??

Now planning to rebuild my spare box probably with a Quaife gear set with steel synchros.

Any suggestions on who would be the best workshop to undertake this job in Sydney? :?:
