My car is built to IPRA specs Paul but as I pointed out don't compare my laptimes to those of the likes of Nc BDA's as they have all done many hundreds of laps around Morgan Park in testing and races. The laptimes that I have been achieving have been sufficient to win my class in the last 6 events that I contested in 2009. In the 7 years that I have been using this engine I have yet to come up against another Pinto engined Escort that was ultimately quicker. Incidentally, I have run at the same meeting as Errol at Stanthorpe ( where he hasn't done a million laps) and our laptimes were almost identical.

Gary as I said I'm not having a shot at you just pointing out a performace comparison. It wouldn't matter how many laps Errol and the boys have done around MP they need horsepower to do those sorts of times.

The successful results and laptimes that Errol has achieved indicate that Danny may have been exaggerating slightly.!!!!!
Lets just say that my pinto has 190-200hp then Errols BDA has something just over 200. Are you not quoting 25% more than that for one of your 1600 BDA's?

Errol currently claims 170-175rwhp from there best engine, make of that what you will, however using the factor Danny has already quoted that nets 208 at the flywheel, the engine I used as an example in the other thread made 217, I don't believe that is 25%.

The Atlantic engines use bigger cams, webers and pipes and do make up to 250hp, ask any current BD engine builder anywhere in the world (except Danny's mythical Guru's) and you'll get that answer it's what torque they make that's the difference. I should have 1 maybe 2 Atlantic engines on the dyno in the next month or two.

The reason I brought Errol up was you asked me to compare one of my engines to someone else, I did, my lotus cortina did run with Errols BDA down OP straight for a number of laps before I passed him. That's the comparison.

Now if you want to take MP out of the equation lets use Lakeside where Errol has done a 61sec lap and as race drivers do told me how if that a mazda hadn't hit and that Torana didn't hold him up he would have done 59's. Now some where on this forum danny says he did 61's with what I believe is your engine now, correct me if I'm wrong.

So how does group N car do the same times as the GREAT DANNY M?

I'm not asking him to tell me things that have been hard and expensive learnt that he makes a living from I've asked him to give a plausible explaination to back up the statements he's made, which shouldn't be that hard as he's apparently in contact with people who have owned these dyno's and apparently build these engines, should be easy and been done the first time the questions were asked.

It's very difficult however to answer a question when you have no idea how to answer it because you have no knowledge of what your talking about.

As for the spec of the engine I'll document the build as it happens but will not give cam or head specs, if you want them you can buy the engine when it's finished.

Well the block is back from redi strip and the sleeves that were so poorly fitted have been removed, they needed to be there though for 2 good reasons 1. no.4 is split just about top to bottom 2. no.3 has had one of those good cast pistons fall apart at some stage.

I have used this block as the other blocks I've got will go to 84mm and 85mm and that would be a waste.

This block also has the worst case of core shift I've seen in a 711M block, nothing some decent sleeves can't fix though.

Picked up the sleeves today, swung the crank they aren't usually a problem but better to know sooner than later and tested the valves springs.

Cam drive and flywheel still a couple of weeks away, followers and pushrods about a month and at least that for pistons.
