Front spring rates / front end woes

Damion, with your car so well presented, you won't have any trouble getting an entry for most events, especially the numerous Street Sprints. Eg: Leyburn, Gatton, Pittsworth, Oakey (new for 09)

Well, I thought I was going to get out cheap and easy for a set of coilovers in the front of my car, as I scored the coilovers out out my brother's escort which were a week old when the car was involved in a head on accident.. Only the right side was bent, so i cut off the threaded tube and had it welded on to another 2L strut that I had lying around..

Although I finally decided to swap everything over this afternoon and when I put my koni yellow's in i found that at full droop the springs are not held capitive.. there is probably about a 1 inch gap between the helper spring and the proper spring..

So I pulled my koni back out and compared it to the bent koni yellow that was previously used with the same setup and I notice that there are two different part numbers on them...

86 1835 Sport .. bent koni that was initially used

86 2106 Sport .. mine

Should I be looking to buy a shorter Koni insert or would it be possible to get away with a longer helper spring ? If they make them ?

If I have to buy new inserts is it possible to get externally adjustable ones from somewhere ?
