Oz heres what i know, dohnt bother with Aus Dealer or Minilight UK. Aus dealer was way to dear. This is part of his email ( Cost landed in Sydney is AUD$300 ea if included with a sea freight
consignment (10-12 weeks), AUD$350 ea if air freighted on their own (2-3
weeks ) and this dosnt include delivery to my home. Nice bloke but to dear. Uk minilight dealer is not interested with selling even though there is the option. My email to minilght UK was forwarded to Aus supplier who contacted me. Find a reputable dealer in UK that sells large numbers of minilight wheels. They have the good prices.

Guys be careful, there is a big difference between a MINILIGHT (Copy rim) and a Genuine MINILITE Rim. Maybe the previous ones at $900 were MINILIGHTS which are really just a cheap SUPERLITE as they export them to the UK?. If so, they are not the genuine wheel. The Genuine Rim has MMX stamped on them. Minilite in the UK dont like sending rims here directly as it knocks the nose of their Australian agent and they are reluctant to do it and cause a drama with an established agent even thought they charge the earth. I use a UK forwarding agent to get around it. Just my 2 bobs worth after years of importing experience.

Bugger ive been ripped off. That works out about $29 each cheaper than mine. Ya good point with the export superlights that's why i mentioned finding a reputable dealer selling Tech Del UK genuine minilights. These Tech Del wheels do differ from the original genuine minilights but come from the original moulds.. Shall we call them genuine copy's?.

I have been told that Minilites and Compomotive ML are are a bit heaver because they are designed to be a rally wheel and need the extra strength.

OK here is a question for those in the know........

Panasport Ultralights are stamped "For Racing Purposes Only" (or something to that effect). I would have thought a racing rim would need to be stronger than a normal road wheel so why would a racing wheel not be allowed on the road??

well if i have to repaint when i get them from silver to gold then the grinder will come out....guess it wouldnt effect the balance too much?

Me? I use factory rims on the road car and race rims on the Escort.

I put a three inch buckle in a steel rim when i hit a water filled pot hole at high speed in a shoe box of a car (Suzuki Swift). I'm glad I wasn't driving the Escort at the time as I'm not too sure how the Race rims would have coped with that amount of shock.

That being said I used to run Alloy rims on the Landcruiser and they took everything I threw at them. They certainly weren't lightweight or anything close to race spec though.

These are always an option. They'll keep the car from dragging on the ground til you save up for a set of Panasports.

I've got a few sets of rims floating around. One set of 15x7 Panasports. One set of 13x7 hotwires. One set of std RS rims. One set of std ghia rims and a mix of steel and other odd rims i've collected over time. Next set I acquire with be 5 performance challengers in 15x7 that I can use on the project car instead of the panasports depending on the occasion.

Im told ford mondeo alloys fit as well... but I dont think Oz was thinking that low a budget

Paul is right...I dont want cheap and nasty. I just want something that looks good, is good and is more an achieveable price.

Can anybody fill in the blanks in this table?

Looking at the pure data it would suggest that Superlite Classic are the best weight vs cost option but they dont have a great quality rating? Anyway, I am trying to investigate the purchase of Panasports in the hope that I can sell my body to get enough cash. Their website is @#$% and do not have contact details!! Not sure which of the random distributors that came up on Google are worth using?

we had a set on the rally car on the weekend , they look great , better than superlites
but i dont know anything more about them apart from price is reasonable ????
