Gartrac 4 Link Boxes

Postby MK1_Oz » Sat Nov 06, 2010 12:07 pm

Has anybody fitted these (Gartrac not other types)?

I am missing the 2 tubes that get welded into the chassis rail and wondered if anybody knows the dimensions (ID, OD, length) of these????????

OK, found out that this tube is 4.5" long, 2.0mm (14G) w/t (whatever that means???), and 3/8" i.d.

Next issue, does anybody have any tube this size or specifically know where I can obtain it?????????? I cannot see why the wall thickness cannot be greater providing the ID stays 3/8".

I have the full catalogue of my local steel supplier and they have nothing even close :(

They are 2 piece link boxes. In the Gartrac design, the lower bolt that holds the link arm/rod into the body box passes through the chassis rail before going into the body box. Sortta like...

A peice of solid shaft with a hole drilled through the the centre would last longer than a piece of 2mm Wall Thickness tube.

I did think about that. I would need to get a local machine shop to do it cos I dont have a suitable 5" long drill bit :(

If you have a descant pedestal drill and clamp the vice down firmly you could drill from either end. Them you only need a drill 2 1/2" long thumbup.gif
