Compression struts

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone had had any experience with compression struts on the front instead of the sway bar. They seem to have a following in the UK.
They appear to offer better castor control and should be quite precise, however if you wack the front end hard enough, I imagine you could do a fair amount of damage to the chasis rails. I also don't understand why you don't need a sway bar as well.
Any other thoughts???

They are easier for castor adjustment, and can make the car feel better under braking, however as the roll control is gone so the spring rates are upped to compensate.

Whenever setting up a race car it is preferable to set up without roll (sway) bars first, and then use them for fine tuning, but with a basic front suspension setup like the Escort the adjustments are not that fine anyway.

yes they could possibly increase chassis damage in harder to repair areas, but if you hit something that hard you will be repairing the car anyway.

I fitted lots for people when I ran my business in the UK, but personally I haven't used them, I just don't feel there is enough (or any) advantage over the original (style) sway bar setup, thats my opinion anyway

Always wanted to try out the tension strut and drop linked sway bar set up though, (late GP4) but never got to fit one of those.
