2 litre engine mounts.

Hi guys,

I have a silly question. Where does the metal cups sit on the engine mounts of a 2 litre engine. I know one of the metal brackets is slightly longer than the other and that sits on the steering side. However do these cups sit between the crossmember and rubber OR between the metal mount (off the engine) and the rubber. Currently i have it between the crossmember and rubber? If i have it wrong please let me know and also if you think it would make a difference where it currently sits. I really dont wanna change them over, its a bit of a hassle.

I have seen peeps with the alloy pinto mount having the cup between the engine and the mount rubber (i think this is because of the alloy mount having a fairly small circumference)

but I have on the regular pinto mount the cup between the mount and the crossmember like you. (I don't think it really matters with the normal mount as the bracket on the engine side is rectangular and wide like the crossmember mounting point).

Duane,

L/S = Long / Short

S/L = Short / Long

2lt XM have a reinforcing plate on the slotted face.

Crank centreline is normally tunel centreline.

WCXM move engine to right a bit.

2lt in a Mk 1, no idea what the cross member is from

I just went through all this and mine actually dropped onto the
mounts with the long mount on the passengers side and the short on
th drivers side

The metal cups are on the block side

Every other combination (i tied them all) just did not drop into place

Duanne,

The 2lt engine has the bolt bosses at different distances from the crank centre line.

The short mount goes on the side with the bosses the longest distance from the crank.

If 2 longs fill the gaps then do that. Could also extend the XM slots downward so that a L & S fit up.

i have the short ones on the pasenger side & the long ones on drv side &
the top of the block is about 190 - 200 mm below the lip of the heater bubble
hope this helps
dont forget an alloy sump can sit lower to the xmember - hence the g-box lowering blocks on an rs setup

Fix the problem for once and for all. Don't stuff about.
Buy a world cup x member with lowered rack mounts and
get on with life.
