Here’s what I’ve had made for my Mk2 2litre. The history behind it is the NZ V8’s aren’t allowed to run a dry sump so they have started fitting this type of pickup. The guy who made it for me said they double the life of the engines. When you corner hard the shuttle valve slides over opening the port on the side of the sump with all the oil. Simple really.
I also had the sump cut and made deeper by 35mm to increase the oil capacity.
The other improvement I’ve made is to fit a genuine Mercedes Benz 190E oil filter. Apparently they are fitted with a check valve to stop them from draining so you get oil pressure much faster on start up. I’ve got the part number somewhere if anybody’s interested.
