I've lodged an entry for Lakeside sun 18th sept. Its been on my to do list for awhile now and the super sunday format seems good with practice in the morning and sprints in the evening. Its been 31 years since I had a go at lakeside and that was only a few laps in a gemini series car memerable because I think Dick debuted the xd true blue falcon and in the last butchers picnic race of the day I started off the back up near eastern loop somewhere and Dick lapped me so that was a bit of a blast. I hope to learn where the track goes in practice and then have a bit of a go in the sprints. I know this place has a reputation for destroying cars so any advice would be helpfull. Ive watched a few videos and I guess to do a good time there it looks like you need commitment with a capital B. Garry.
Lakeside was a success on sunday I did two 20min practice sessions on my trailer tyres to learn the track and then we got three 5 lap runs in the sprints. The car was geared perfect and was doing 7000rpm on the front straight which was 225 on my gps but I was only doing 6000 about 205 into the braking area for hungry. "They" say you need to be doing the same speed under the bridge to hungry as you do on the front straight if you're fair dinkum. Any thoughts on that? Anyway my best lap was 57.54 in the final run and I did 3 laps within a tenth of that so was fairly comfortable at that. The results are on natsoft sunday 18th. I know that finding another second is going to be the hard part and there are a couple of spots where I can pick up a bit but it will require a bit of committment and I will need a few more runs before I test that theory. Next outing should be Qld super sprint weekend at morgan park 15/16 oct anyone doing that? Garry.
