You are bidding for a ride in the Rossendale Escort RS1800 Rally Car, driven in anger by the World Famous Ari Vatanen, 1981 World Rally Champion, here in NZ to compete in the 2011 Otago Classic Rally.

The ride will take place in a forest close to Christchurch (within an hour or two), and you will have to get yourself to the venue and back. Safety overalls and helmet will be provided. The route will be several kilometers long, and will occur during testing on the morning of Tuesday April 5, 2011. A photo opportunity will also be possible.

Finlands Ari Vatanen, one of the biggest names in world rallying, will be the star attraction at this years Classic Rally of Otago. Bid to have the ride of your life!!

Once in a lifetime opportunity.

You are bidding for the chance to enjoy a proper rally stage as a co-driver for the legendary 1981 World Rally Champion Ari Vatanen. The car is a brand new full works specification "Rothmans" Escort RS1800 replica.

The tarmac super stage around the streets of Dunedin is one of the highlights of the DriveSouth Rally of Otago, with competitors completing three laps of a city block. Up to three cars run on the stage at a time. The distance is 2.1km entirely on tarmac streets.

The stage is the final competitive action on the Saturday of the event, the Auction winner will need to be in Dunedin at the start area of the super special stage on Saturday the 9th of April 2011 from approx. 2.30pm. Racing overalls, helmet and intercom will be provided. A photo opportunity will also be possible and the car will be wired to video your experience


Hi, yes it will be in 2 different cars. He will copete in the Rossendale car throughout the rally. After competing in that car for his rally stage time, he will jump into the Rothmans replica car (all to full works spec) and line up again with the other competing cars and be slotted back in to allow the auction winner to experience their stage.
