Okay, okay... Here goes!

The event was awesome - so well run, fantastic roads, lots of laughs, generally just fantastic.

My first event on dirt was a learning curve: we started slow and steady and gradually turned up the wick (even though the wick only has 90hp... - will have to improve that!). The car performed faultlessly. It is so stable and easy to control. We worked the nut on the lower alternator bolt loose, but that was the worst of it! Heard the screech when starting and fixed it at the next service :) All good. The stages were fast and flowing and I'm sure the quick boys were pushing some serious speed. My car seems to run out of puff around 5500-5800 and creeps its way forward from there but even we hit about 6200 in top on some of the straights (not too quick with the 5.1 diff). But there's plenty of speed left in the girl: I just have to have a bit of a go. I gave it more on the final stage (it was a repeated 2.5km stage) and I took 8 seconds off my first time through - 2.46 down to 2.38.

Matt linning in his Cosworth powered Mk2 came 8th outright after having a bit of an off that bent a steering arm. Keith Fackrell was there in the BDA and both those cars sounded fantastic. There were two other Mk2s but no Mk1s. A full field of 50 cars was about half modernish and half classicish - really great. Thanks to Jase for servicing (read washing the windscreen) and GCTMC for an outstanding event. We had a ball!

Just recieved some results.

Matt Linning was only 2 secs off 7th place, 1st in class. Glenn Mitchell in his RS2000 (Maroon 2 door) was 16th, 2nd in class. Kieth's BDA was 25th only 5 secs off the guys tied for 23rd, 4th in class, Baden in 34th, 6th in class. Eugene Rutland (White 4 door) was on the reserve list, so got a run across the 20km stage twice as an official car.
