I feel the Escort you're in, may be a "little" better prepared and driven than mine. But yep, always in for a bet! I'm leaving here 9ish in the morning, so should be down around about 4pm tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

i will be there on sat morn , probably about 10 mins before drivers briefing
but the beer economy is a good trading currency on stage times

ive been getting a bit dizzy with all that roundy roundy tarmac stuff last few years
cant wait for a bit of dust & a few creek crossings

Well although I won't be doing the event due to money worries and an engine in bits, I'm quite looking forward to see Mr. King pushing Hooligan all the way!

just got back , i still cant stop smiling , it was an absolute hoot
the car handled like a dream , it is a very well behaved thing in all conditions , suprisingly good over the realy rough stuff & totaly predictable on the big open fast stuff , i lost count of how many times we were flat out in top over blind crests & round big corners
i must say the hooligan is a still a pretty good punter , not afraid to have a real go !!
the only thing that let us down was an intermittent missfire in the (ebay) engine ?????
the thing seriously needs a bda or better in it !!
we had a good battle with "TANZ" in his mighty mk 1
i delivered 2 beers to him but we have to wait for official results

Well done Steve....

That car it very well prepared but as we agreed is spoilt by the shite air socks on the carbs! It still needs a front spoiler though!

I know how frustrating an intermittent misfire is and felt sorry for you both when going of the line sounding like a Wartburg!

Both you guys and Tanz are now running 5links and turrets and it showed. This setup really comes into its own on gravel and is the only way to go!

Glad you had fun....just wish I had any cash left over from the build to sort mine out and get rallying

Good to hear you had a good time Steve. There is nothing better than going bush 4 a couple of days and driving gravel roads fast, more satisfying than bitumen any day. All,s good for a great result in NZ if the hooligan has a bit of form.

Event results are up on the Gallangowan website Steve. Official count 8-1 I'm sure when the car is running on 4 cylinders it will even up a bit!

I have to agree, the event was great, and even better when there's a few more Escorts out. Mulligan and Steve were seeded a couple of cars behind us, and that gave plenty of opportunity to catch up and chat all things Escort (and for Steve to ask many questions about the roadbook/ timing etc. as it had been 15 or so years he tells me since last in the forest competing ).

This was the 1st event since I'd 5 linked the car, and it was a big learning curve. I'd only driven it about a kilometre before we went to the event, so the whole day was about coming to grips with it. Some revalved shocks on the rear and new tyres, fix the damaged flare from driving 4 km on a flat tyre and it's all good to go for Rally Qld!

Well that miss is a little worse than i perceived. That no fun at all. At least you would have been able to keep up with the road book fairly easy Steve .

mik , dont mention the ROAD BOOK i have never ever seen anything like it
there was over 50 pages of amendments to be marked up manualy to it
ive done plenty of rallying over the years but this was just plain dangerous
i spent 3 hours before the event trying to fix the organisers adjustments
when i should have been sorting out the car & concentrating on just going thru the road book & marking up the cautions etc
i can only call it a +rude book+

Is Ed going to invest in some new plug leads? or is it a terminal "Ebay" cheapie.
My question is why do you run an ebay buy in a car that has cost alot of $s to get it to this piont (DM spell).
( I know what it looked like when he first obtained the body)?
The car looked great and I was urging it up the hill ! I have competed in Rally Q in the RS 2000 that Steve Wall had, doing the same thing for the whole event. (F#*K) engine.
Maybe I should look at getting mine setup for tree hugging!
There are no Tarmac events within 100kms-1000kms of GC SE Qld maybe I should come and play with you "Old Farts"
