Rally Australia 2011 (Sept 8-11)

Hi All,
Well iv'e been a bit slack on here lately, got back into bikes, so have been out cycling nights/weekends e.t.c which dosen't leave much time for sitting in front of the computer. Anyway, i was just wondering who else may be heading to Coffs for the WRC this year? Would'nt mind planning a night out if there are a few going??

Hi Michael,

I will be there with the family in tow again this year. We've booked accommodation from Wednesday to Monday on Harbour Drive just a stone's throw from the Jordan Esplande where the Super Special will be run. Maybe we could catch up for a meal? I think Anthony Tanzer put his hand up to marshall and will be camping out in the bush, but hopefully we could drag him in from the wilderness for a night too.

We can't wait. Alice was too little to remember the 2009 event, but she is definitely excited about going on a plane to see the rally cars this year!

Yep, I threw my name in to do some road closures, and as Simon said I'll be camping out on the stages! But I could always be enticed back to civilisation for a beer or three!

Damn, i hope you get a good spot to see some action... would be nothing worse than getting stuck on some main road directing traffic, anyway I am sure we can make it worth your while if you make it too town We could probably even through in a hot shower!

Do you have any info with regards to stage locations? Currently there is not much info on the website, so was just wondering about how far out of town time/distance wise they are?

all I know so far is one day's to the South, Next day west, and the 3rd will be North. Or at least that was the last update I recieved. I too hope that I get located somewhere interesting, as one of my very good friends is the officials co-ordinator! Actually I recieved an SMS this evening as the email address I'd given is no longer current, so I better go do that now.

Ha, number of flags sold - 1! Now who might that've been!?

We have to figure out what Alice is wearing this year. The bib was a big hit last time (also fully signed and put away) and she made lots of friends out on the stages. Time to get creative...

Was out on the weekend putting up road closure notices. Have now driven over every stage except the power stage and the Urunga stage. To any of you lucky enough to be competing, you should have an absolute ball!!

I'll post up some thoughts on the spectator points later if anyone is interested.

We purchased our Super Pass tickets today. We're currently trying to decide which additional stages we are going to buy tickets for so I'd be very keen to hear your thoughts!

I spoke to Mr Tanzer earlier and he mentioned a link on the Brindabella site, so I went looking and it is awesome to say the least!

I have road closure duties for Friday on the Shipmans stages, so should be outta there fairly early (maybe around 4 pm) and plenty of time to get into Coffs for the SSS. I spoke with a former local and was suggested The Pier Hotel would be within walking distance of the SSS. Maybe a good place to meet up wash down some dust before heading to watch John throw around IYK?
