PRO-TOUR DRIFTING ROUND 1 - PARKLANDS SHOWGROUNDS THIS SUNDAY
The 2011 PRO TOUR "DRIFT CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES" slides into action at Parklands Showground on the Gold Coast on sunday march 6th as part of the long running SUPER SUNDAY car show.
Round 2 of the popular series will then head to what has been described as the best drift track in Australia, Carnell Raceway at Stanthorpe on sunday april 10
This track is so popular with drivers & spectators alike that for 2011 the PRO TOUR will be conducting 2 rounds at this great little country venue.
With a PRO class field made up of a large number of new cars & re vamped cars drivers have gone all out this year in raising the presentation standard & upgrading engine & suspension performance in an effort to take the prestigious title away from the 2010 champion Josh Boettcher from Ipswich.
As well as performance upgrades drift fans will also see many new teams & new sponsors to the sport with a host of new paint schemes & cosmetic upgrades.
Boettcher will be having his first PRO TOUR start in the all new "state of the art" nissan s15 which is a purpose built drift car & should provide him with what will be needed to fight off last years main contenders in "Huge" Euge Arendsen who will be back behind the wheel of the Tokage Toyata Soarer "black mumba", Rob Whyte in the Supercharged Motul / Nismo Nissan 350z, Dan Kenneally in the "HOGSTER" Nissan ute as well as Robby Mounfield who will be making his first appearance in his Mounfield Racing / Federal sponsored Nissan sil180 this turbo rb25 powered car looks sensational & is bound to impress.
Another new car making its debut appearance will be Woollongong drifter Jason Greenwood in the awesome looking Lexus which has been two years in the making.
Also making their first appearences in the PRO catagory will be last years Level 2 champ Nick Coulson in the Just Nice Cars Nissan, Scott Maiden in the nissan 180 & Tamworth star drifter Justin Grimley in the Nissan s13.
Supporting the PRO catagory will be a capacity field of 24 cars in the PRO TOUR L2 SERIES, with many new faces expected to be making a visit to the winners circle in 2011 including Brad Stehr from Tamworth, Kris Frome from the Gold Coast & the Team Marvel Drifters from Newcastle headed by top 2010 performer Brendan Westlake.
