It's not a Golf GTI spoiler as it started out at the standard Mk1 depth and was just extended
I have heard of them called a MK1 Zakspeed spioler but thats probably crap

Yeah Roger, but it looks really stupid there!!!! And besides, I can't afford the RS3100 to go with it! The Golf one looks way to narrow to me.

Roger,
As requested here is an update on our car.

Nothing drastic. The front end needed an overhaul ie: rack rebuild, new tca's, new tie rod ends and I am finally swapping to a spherical bearing strut top ( when I built the car we were still required to have rubber tops!!!) This will allow me to sacrifice some camber (it has 6.5)to gain some more caster (it has bugger all).

The rear end is going Hilux with welded centre. This will add weight to the car but with all of the standing starts I do in a year the English axles were just too marginal. I was having to take them out regularly to check for twisting and have had my share of problems with the planetary gears and limited slip over the last 4 years. The Hilux will allow me to "set and forget"!!! The diff ratio will go from 4.9 (escort) to 5.3 (hilux).

Also fitting an adjustable watts link (as per Danny). Will then lower the car by 20-30mm, which requires new (centre eye) leafs to clear the chassis rail. The watts link crossmember in the boot will also require the construction of a new fuel tank.

Last season I competed in 14 events (either sprints or hillclimbs) and came 2nd in class to Danny in 8 of them!!! This won't get me much closer to him, but it will help me to stay in front of the Datsuns that are getting closer with each event. I think that the car has really hit a plateau in its current spec so its time for some changes! They say its as good as a holiday! I'm just having a reluctant one at the moment whilst I get some money together.
