How tall are you?! Look like you're sitting high in the photos. It might just be your style but most try and get down as low as possible. I'm quite tall but the IPRA regs allow modification to the floor to get the seat down. Maybe there is something similar in the rally regs?
What camber/toe specs did you get on the Eurospeed diff and what diff centre is it running?
I am 6'1" and with the helmet on my head is close to the roof. The seat mounts sit about 1.5-2" from the floor so I could have gone lower but it was a real PITA. Maybe its seat design and I guess the seat is quite upright too.
I didnt specify any toe or camber setting on teh diff (it is not their fancy pants camber version). The wheel alignment mob said it shows -0.7 left and +0.2 right which is not ideal but I guess they are small figures. Toe is -0.5mm each side.
Mounting the seat is a pain. I'm 6'6" and have the same seat as yours. Mine is the XL version. What we did was mount the seat in a roll cage cradle mounted from the main hoop horizontal and vertical support bars. It helped getting the seat lower and means that in a crash the shell/floor can move and the cradle should keep the seat within the confines of the cage. The harness is also mounted to the cage which means it won't go slack if the floor moves. I hope this makes sense I'll take a photo and post.
From memory he was talking about $500 a year or 2 ago although he never actually got back to me on the subject hence me going elsewhere. It is either him or Gary Kirk who have the templates.
Thanks Crusey. Looking at the first pic, does that side bar run fron the main hoop all the way forwards to the front legs? It looks more like it runs in a loop from the main hoop, forwards then inwards then eventually another 90 degree turn back to the main hoop.
Looks a good solution and should improve head room. If ever I rolled I think my scone will hold the car up!!!
No they stop at the tag that holds the front of the seat. Both side bars run parallel but are not connected at the front. In another car we own it does loop around but you do lose some height as the seat sits a bit higher at the front.
I have used quite a few of the GRP4 Fab tanks now on several cars and they are hard to beat and also tried and tested on nearly every one of the Irish Rally Cars
Been rethinking my dry sump pump speed as Weaver in the US have said I probably run it too fast. Currently I have a 22 tooth pulley on the jackshaft and a 28 tooth pulley on the pump. Now if the jackshaft spins at 1/2 engine RPM then my pump ratio is;
22/28 * 50% = 39.3%
i.e. the oil pump spins at 39.3% of engine revs.
Is my maths correct?
During competition I was seeing about 70-75psi hot oil pressure which I believe to be a good level. At low idle I get maybe 20psi but at high idle (1500-1800) it shoots up to just over 60psi. Not sure what was happening there.
just read thru the build mate. looks awsome. i watched a few of the targa stages ( sturt valley and aldgate valley) escort looked and sounded really good mate. i live literally a min away from the aldgate valley road. its a tough one to get right and very tight. congrats on getting through the event
