The two works cars were for the Southern cross rally, MTW201P for Roger Clark and Chris Porter 14th O/A and LVW690P for Timo Makinen and Henry Liddon DNF.
MTW201P returned to UK and did the Morocco rally with Clark and Porter in June 1976 DNF.
It was in New Zealand recently.
LVW690P stayed in Australia and became IYK000 which is now owned by John Hadden.
This is the RS1800 run mainly by Gregg Carr and Colin Bond while in Ford Australia ownership to win the Australian Rally Championship.

As a side issue the engine in the car photographed is a Ford Duratec alloy 16 valve engine as used in the European Touring car championship (not taxi racing) Mondeos, WRC Focus and Fiestas and by Cosworth and others for single seater engines. This must be the case as the parts for them can be ordered through your Ford dealer and come in a Ford box with a Ford part number - how confusing is that.
Although not a BDA or was it a BDG or what did an Escort have in it - not ever a cast iron lump with a 16 valve head from a Sierra either.
Maybe the full alloy 16 valve DOHC current production evolution of a BDA or was that a BDG from Ford, not fogetting the Ford / Mazda joint ownership company that were jointly involved in the design and development of this engine. This is probably the right engine when a BDA or BDG will cost in excess of $40,000 so there is a saving of about $20,000 it can make similar or better power, weighs in at well less than 80Kgs and its from the Ford stable. MMMMM

Suttons cars were bombing around stages in my youth and with age and hard graft I had enough cash/time to try and build a close replication of memories of my youth, it's a personal thing as I'm sure it is with others. A so called purist could pull my car to pieces if they chose to do so (as much as I could with every escort I look at if I wanted to as I have enough knowledge to do so). But if it don't float your boat I personally could not give a hoot, each to their own I say and if the owner is happy then thats all that counts.

IYK was a car Ford Aus ordered from Boreham

they are not much different to an old group C Bathurst type car
rebuilt & restored back to the old specs they were in the heyday
& they were the ducks nuts in their day
now they are just slow old brightly coloured rattlebox,s
in comparison to modern day technology cars
