Evening all. I am hoping that someone will be able to help with a little problem i have concerning the placement of the front mounting bracket of a MK1 short arm (14.5") 5 link. I have searched the site and found some good information but it seems all relevant to the long arm MK2 version.
The problem is that in the first pic (taken from Ford rally preparation book) it shows the lower link bar in a parallel line with the front spring mount and the diff spring plate and mounted in this position.
In the second set of photos the bottom link is mounted a little higher and more in line with the chassis rail itself whilst still keeping what looks like the original fore and aft placement.
My questions would be, was there an updated version of the short arm that i am unaware of or (2) have they simply rotated the front mount around its axi to raise the mount into a parallel plane with the floor, providing a little extra protection.
I hope this all makes sense.
Mik.
