Capri MK1 Front Bearings + Caps

Hi Guys,

I picked up a couple of capri hubs today to go with my capri struts and it seems one of the hubs is missing a bearing. (See pics)

If i get a new set of bearings will they come with this bearing to be located inside the hub as well or is this something else I need to buy? If anyone has part numbers that would be great?

Also, where can I get the hub grease caps to suit as well? Does anyone know the measurements of the grease caps as maybe other makes will fit?

Hello

A new bearing set should include 2x tappered roller bearings + matching bearing cups, 1x grease seal and 1x split pin. Just tell them Ford Capri and they should give you the right bearings and Mk2 Cortina bearing caps are the same.

Is the bearing cup the one you can see in the picture that goes between the roller bearing and the hub itself?

Yep, that's a bearing cup. Can be slowly worked out from side to side with a hammer and punch or pressed out.

Box says "Rear Wheel" is the part # the same for the front?

As for caps.

I had enough wandering around wreckers with screwdriver and verniers.

so I bought some of them alloy ones from the you k ?

First set are probably too small in OD, but with a bit of silicone would probably hang around for awhile.

BUT

The ID is too large to go over the nut and split pin





The second set....I stopped here as the next operation would be bashing them with a mallet, as these are way too tight.....never come off though...literally.






So I still have steel ones.

Hey Matt

Well spotted, I've never read the box as the printed label on the top says FORD Front Wheel Kit F104 (was a 2725) and they're Japanese NTK brand which I would say are much better than a Chinese brand. The ebay kit is cheaper than the CBC price I paid.

SMCKA & Eurospeed have the bearings and I think the caps as well.

Will get onto them when I finishe doing the Volvo conversion.
