auto problems help plz

hi guys ive got a 1600 auto and for some reason when i put it in to a drive gear the revs completly drop to the point it neally stalls. it idles completly fine any ideas?

i plan to but trying to get it on the road as is bog standard helps my chances haha ones its on the road the fun can start :)

Which auto is it, Borg Warner (MK1) or a C3 (MK2)?

If its a C3 then it is mot likely to do with the vacuum modulator which has a pipe that connects into the PCV hose. Its either disconnected, blocked or the modulator itself stuffed. The modulator just screws into the side of the auto.

... But Danny is right, get the stupid auto out and put a manual in it!
