Fill it until oil comes back out the filler hole. Don't know the exact quantity..

Type 9 gearbox has two fluid levels depending on the location of the filler plug in side of gearbox. The filler plug itself sits on a raised, oval shape surface.
If the filler plug is at the base of the oval shape, then requires 1.25 litres.
And if your plug is at the top of the oval shape, then it requires 1.9 litres.

Just found this?

I had one many years ago, don't recall there being 2 plugs. I do recall cutting a hole in the transmission tunnel to get at it though. I thought the casing was the same as the 4 speed.

Mk2_Pete has it right.

Later casings (post 1987) had the filler plug moved 4mm lower reducing the oil capacity to 1.25L
