the first photo made it look like one of the thin .100" thick sintered type plates which are a pain in the arse as they don't handle much heat and as soon as they wear .010" they're stuffed

Hello Roger,

I have the same Tilton clutch cover and plate on the BD, very useable in normal traffic. But I would advise you getting a special extended release bearing carrier similar to the ones Burton's sell. I use a homemade one off which touch the pressureplate at the edges of the vins ... if you know what I mean. That way the pedal-effort of the clutch is minimal.

a mate has got a spare extended bearing carrier (to be used with a Sachs release bearing) will get that a make a photo of it.
Will try and attach a piccie of the std release bearing and the 8mm extended carrier as sold by Burton in the UK. (for GBP 38).

The problem I found with the Burtons extended carrier is that it's to short and Burtons say you just use it and it's all fine, well it's not as you need to work out the installed height of the cover at the diaphram and then work back from std and always go back to the centre line of the clutch fork so that it doesn't over extend as the fork will push the bearing over at an odd angle if it's over extended and will damage the clutch cover as I ended up having to extend the carrier another 20mm for my Sach's/Raceclutch

I am not using the Burton part as it was not suitable for me using a single-plate 7.25 inch clutch. Haven't got a piccie of the homemade part yet as the spare one is someone else's garage.
Agree with you that anyone who is trying to fit an aftermarket clutch has to sort out/measure themselves what kind of non-std parts they need.
What else is new when modifying an Escort???

The flywheel has the two bolt patterns for the 2.0L and the 2.3L Ford
motors; we do not make a flywheel for the 9 bolt Cosworth crank.

The difference is merely a change of Part Number. The Sonic range is usually a cost reduced version of the normal Tilton Product, but with flywheels there is no actual difference in the product itself.

Availability - I have the pressure plate in stock, I should have a clutch plate by the end of the week. I would guess the flywheel could be here in a couple of weeks but that
depends on availability in the USA which I don't know about yet.
