Gearbox Xmember - 4sp into Auto shell

Have the motor and box sitting in the Ghia, but being an auto shell, there is the question of the rear gearbox crossmember mounting. What have others done to fabricate a suitable mount? If you have any pics that would be great.

You cannot use the original mount but modified to suit the manual box?

I have a Celica box that came from an auto tunnel Mk2 with a fabficated mount but by the look the auto mount is further down the tunnel?

Mine has had an auto tunnel put into an originally manual shell, but due to it having been set up for a steel case Toyota 5 speed in the past has no mounts on the floor.

The factory manual cross member was way too narrow so i tried the auto version but in my case it was also too narrow.

I then made one up myself which was quite simple and has worked really well having done around 30 autocrosses, 8 hill climbs and 12 sprints in the past 3 years.

It is made using 3mm flat bar steel and is also plated on the inside of the floor to stop the bolts pulling through under load.

Easy fix Nev!! Put a 5 speed in, it lines up perfectly with the Auto tunnel mount

5sp is no good, because then I'll have to shift the gearstick hole in the floor, which means I can't run the standard console, which is no good because it houses the a/c controls.

I need to get you a pic but the 4sp gearbox mount is about 2 inches further forward than the floor mounts. So the xmember will need some little wings on it to make it reach the floor mounts. I have the auto xmember but it dips down about an inch in the middle where the rubber mount bolts to, and consequently the back of the box sits too low.

I bit of extra time and I may have tapered the body mount edges and generally made it a bit more attractive...but it works well and cost 3 bucks!
