I guess I can sympathise with you to a degree, having done far too many road trips to even consider taking on another if flying is so much as a remote posibility.
In my old band days, we (read, I - the only other guy with a license was a seriously scary driver) drove from the Gold Coast to Melbourne and back 18 times in 2 years, with a number of Sydney trips in between. We had a clapped out Toyota Hiace with rear seats bolted in with hardware bought from Bunnings, and 'ran' on dual fuel. That is, on gas it wouldn't idle and was totally gutless up hills. Such stressful times, and back then I was only 19!
