RS Steering Wheel Centre Pad Identification.

Hi All,

Would anyone be able to positively identify the RS steering wheel centre pad in the photos?

Does not have a part number.
The largest diameter which fits against the steering wheel is 95mm.
The pad is 26mm high (excluding the bung section that the fits into the steering wheel).
The hole in the steering wheel will be 42mm diameter. Is a very loose fit in the Mk2 RS2000 steering wheel.

Hi,

that's for the RS Motorsport 3- or 4-spoke steering wheel (slightly dished).
The RS centre pad for the flat RS2000 steering wheel is flatter.

Which vehicle/s and in which years would have the RS 3 spoke and 4 spoke steering wheels been fitted?
We did not have these in Aussie so I am a bit lost.

The 3- and 4-spoke RS Motorsport steering wheels were never standard on a Ford car overhere. The 3-spoke has a 1971 partno (H71AB3600BA), the 4-spoke a 1978 partno (H78AB3600AA). Your centre pad (which had finiscode 9053564) fits both these steering wheels.
The steering wheel "to have" for a Mk1 Escort was the deep dish Springalex one, for the Mk2 it was the 3-spoke and the Capri had a 4 spoke but with the right boss every steering wheel will fit onto every car. During the 80's Ford's made the 4-spoke steering wheel with a different push-horn centre pad.

I have a Mk3 Escort 4 spoke steering fitted to my RS2000 that looks like the example below. The pad you mention fits in there and came with my wheel. I had to get a steering boss for it to fit though.

G'day Peter.
Are you going to be reproducing these?
I have a RS 4 spoke steering wheel and I'm looking for one of these centre caps.
I bought my last one off eBay Uk but they are getting hard to find and expensive.
I think of you started re-making them, you wouldnt have trouble selling them, particularly in the Uk where a lot of RS cars have them fitted.
