Views on OMP inline fire extinguishers please

This looks like a good bit of kit http://www.ompracing.it/detail.html?productcode=CESST1 has anybody any reviews on it? Opinions greatly appreciated and whilst this may not save the car in the event of a fire it might give me fighting chance if I catch it quick enough.

Havnt had much to do with OMP systems John but have had some experiance with large earthmoving fire systems. Similiar idea just on a larger scale. With the right contents and the nozzles in the correct places they will easly save a car. Good investment

I have a Lifeline for mine in the shed and cannot fault it. However, it is the only plumbed system I have physically seen.

Glenn - how many rallies old is your lifeline ?

Do CAMS still require 3 monthly testing of these - then binned after 3 years?

mine isnt installed yet. only the mount bracket

MOOSE: It might just be a WA thing - but we now need to get our extingusihers checked every 3 months and stamped by an authorised tester - at $35 a test - thats $70 a quarter or $280 a season.

I was told I had to replace my old handheld units cause they were four years+ old from first test!

CAMS recently updated the fire extinguisher regs but I dont recall anything about 3 monthly inspections

I have scruntineering on Monday night for KTSW so i'm going to take your bulletin along and ask the question and see if they will give me back all my testing money for last season


A few years back the WA scruntineers insisted that if you had a red kill switch fitted that it must stop the engine and insisted on testing them before each event. That led to a series of failed alternators due to the spike this generate blowing the diode packs - and their was absolutely no requirement in the CAMS manual re this functionality. I covered mine in black insulation tape and they left me alone!
