[q Steve, you clearly need some therapy to deal with your scrutineer issues!
yep i sure do ! its not my faullt a lot of scrutineers over the years have either had :personal adgendas" and or no idea dont get me wrong , most are very enthusiastic & play an important part of the volunteer brigade . our sport would not happen without these types dare i say ?? the safety side of scrutineering should be performed by fellow competitors alike as a comparison , drag cars are self scrutineered the thinking is ,, yu drive , you take the risk !!! i dont think this is a bad thing but could be improved upon by having a more senior competitor having some input too
back to the throttle return springs personaly , i remove the internal springs from dcoes because over the years i have seen them break from vibration / fatigue & potential for jamming they also put exessive wear on the shafts . & flog the bearings over a long period have a look at a "realy good" open wheeler & see what setup they have ??
