Cost to rebuild diff in Melbourne

Postby Matt1975 » Tue Jan 18, 2011 11:01 am

Hi Guys,

My diff is rooted and I am after ideas on what it should cost to have it rebuilt.

I was given some spares from my cousin to rebuild the diff to get a 3.9 ratio. (See pic)

It is just for the standard aussie escort diff.

Any cost info and experiences would be great.

Cheers

Matt

Give Colin at Cam Automotive a ring 03-97824144. He's based at Seaford and does good work for a reasonable rate. Not to be confused with that other bloke at Seaford though!

Diff rebuilds are never cheap, especially if you need new bearings, seals etc. Personally I work on a starting bill of $500 and go from there.

4 new bearings at aprox $40 ea plus a seal plus a crush tube
if you paid 250 in parts and 250 in labour should be about right

Trans Gears & Diffs. Thomastown. 0394622077. I have used these a few times. Had a escort Lsd set up before Christmas and Steve is about spot on with price. I supplied all part $220 Labour $250. 3 day turn around.
