That really depends what you want to paint. If it's just bits and pieces then a small one (direct drive) would do. If you want to go onto bigger panels then you would be looking at something like this

13-15 cfm with regulator and water trap. Usually twin piston single phase 240v.

Eventually I will need to prime the whole car inside and out. For now it is just parts and panels.

Etch primer should only be used as a light see trough coat its purpose is to create a key between the metal and the primer that is why it is so hard to remove as it is very thin and has no build quality's

ok maybe I had it on too thick. would have thought that the first layer sprayed would still have keyed into the metal though and that only the top layer would have scratched off. I am now investigating the economies of buyer a compressor and paint gun....maybe rattle cans/pressure packs are not the best quality.

usually works out alot cheaper to buy it in the tin anyway so you'll save in the long run
