Postby Lizard » Tue Mar 13, 2007 10:59 pm

Hey,

You guys got any suggestions on how to repair this? The actual paint is fine it just the clear coat that is peeling.

Cheers

Lizard,
Im not a professional painter but this is how I would go about repairing it having had a fair bit of experience.
Using 600-800wet Id sand back the edges of the clear wher it has lifted and where it has a ridge where previous clear coat has been, being carefull not to sand the existing paint much. once the edges are blocked back hit the whole lot with 800-1200wet and retouch sanded area with new clearcoat. The difficulty you will have is the lifting colour at the edges and anywhere you sand through the colour. To do properly I would sand the lifting edges back to metal, re prime, repaint the damage section with colour matched paint and re clear the entire roof.
Good luck
