Seeing as my engine needs to come out due to a suspected welch plug leak behind the flywheel I am going to use this opportunity to build the motor and repair the rest of the car separately.
I have the 1300HC x/flow and want to increase the compression ratio to at least 10.0:1 if not more, so far the only methods I know of are using 1100cc pistons (smaller bowl), or decking the top of the block which is probably less effective.
My problem is this: I am on a budget and luckily have a family member who works for a company which supplies engine parts. His company only sell 1300 and 1600 x/flow pistons, I can get the set of 1300 pistons for $50 as opposed to around $350 normal price. This kind of defeats the purpose of acquiring a set of 1100 pistons as i will have to get them from another company at a higher price.
Is there anything else which could be done to get a higher CR out of 1300 pistons? So far it is looking like my best option is to take about 1.5mm off the top of both the piston and the block which may bring me up to 10.5:1.
Any other ideas?
