I'm am interested to hear anyone else experience with operating oil temp at race conditions.
I have a MkII gravel rally car with a YB Cosworth during long competitive stages the oil temp is getting to 135degC and above.
The temp sensor is mounted in the bottom of the sump
The car has a 12 row oil cooler.
The water temp remains around 95 but in tight stages at high revs might get just over 100degC

I have spoken to a few oil company tech support guys but with no success.

I have tried a couple of different oils
The most recent was Valvoline Racing 50 It was the closest I could get to the old BP Course Plus and was recommended by the person the i bought the YB of not sure of the tolerances as the motor was second hand built by a German fellow how has returned to Germany.
Prior to that in the pinto we had Castrol Edge 10w 60 and then changed to Castrol Edge25w 50 to try and reduce the oil pressure at this point I had a big end bearing fail but this is when I bought the YB

Not sure of the rerunning temp I have fitted therm o couples to the supply and return lines but have not competed since.

hi mate the oil temp does seem a bit high i have a rx2 that i rally and we dont see that higher temp with a rotor ,i would look at fitting a bigger oil cooler as a starting point ..
