Hi,

I just have a few questions about hydraulic lifters. In my 2wd cossie engine ever since I have had it running there has been a bit of a lifter rattle at idle.. once i bring the revs up to about 1500-2000 rpm it generally clears. Is this something I should worry about ?

The lifters that i purchased were non genuine aftermarket ones, I know that the oil I am using may have some affect on the rattle so i will try some different oil this time.

But my main question is, should I just leave the ones i have currently fitted in there ? or would it be better to clean up the original INA type ones and refit them ?

Or bite the bullet and buy some new INA ones ?.. I am not so keen to spend up only to find that this doesn't fix the issue at this point though.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try some different oils. Do you have reasonable oil pressure at idle ? Failing that get some INA lifters.

Yeah, I shall give it a go.

I can't remember what the oil pressure at idle is exactly, think it is around 60+ psi when cold and 25-30ish when hot
