here we go

After much agony as to making a decision about what engine to put in the Mk1 I bit the bullet and just purchased a 200 block yb short motor. The engine has new 91.33mm pistons for 8.5:1 compression ratio I think. It should arrive just after Christmas. I have statred conversations with engine builders over here in London and surrounds as I might as well have it built before I bring it home. I wonder how and engine stand will go down in the Kitchen of the flat?
At this stage im learning what to do, but the general consensus is long stud kit (hence 200 block) mountune headgasket and a general clean up. The head etc is yet to be determined but Im after a lazy 320-350 HP which I believe is relatively achievable without much mechanical modification.
I have my eye on a 4wd head and am thinking new valves etc for the top end. and am scouring the traders and e-bay for manifolds etc. I thought it would be better to get a complete engine but this came up at a very reasonable price so its a good starting point.
I have also signed up with our local street-car club, where you hire cars for the hour, all insurances, taxes, fuel and congestion charges paid for only 5 pounds an hour so I can rush bits around to various places for work or dart across town to pick something up. Much better than trying to carry an engine block on the tube!!!!
I have no real idea what I have got myself into here other than a possible money pit, but hey, what have I got to loose, Ill just cut back on the international tripping and build a good strong YB
Cheers and Ill keep all posted,
