hi all,

i'm still learning much about the pinto and have seen references to the "205 block" and i'm just curious what it is exactly.

i have tried googling for info which hasn't been forthcoming.

from the small bits of info i can put together from search results and forums it was a block made by cosworth for their sierra engines which had thicker walls. that's about all i know regarding it.

can anyone else give me further specs on it. perhaps enlighten me as to whether the 205 naming is meaningful too

The 205 block is a development of the pinto. It was made by Ford and used in many different vehicles, incluidng the Sierra, as a base for SOHC and the earlier YB engines.

There is thicker webbing around the mains and crankcase for the 205 block and it weighs around 6kg more than a pinto block.
