RS Motorsport :: Classic Speed Restored

i own a mk2 white 2 door rs 2000.

i've always wanted one and to get one in the colour i wanted too is a blessing. i bought it about 4 weeks ago and have been miserable from day one.

it has had an efi conversion and suffers a surging/cutting out/idling problem that nobody can seem to eliminate. i've spent hundreds already. i can't find parts for it nor anybody with knowledge on it.

i find myself having to make a decision. do i convert it back to a carby setup, or do i just sell it. my considerations with both of these options are:

- if i sell it, will i ever get a hold of another rs 2000 white 2 door for a reasonable price in reasonable condition again.
- what kind of work is involved in converting it back into a carby setup. it isn't the original engine. it has the 205 block with a standard pinto head as far as i know. i do have the original head though.

any advice greatly appreciated.

You'll regret it if you sell it! There must be a heap of help up there in QLD. Danny Mishock, Phil from the Escort Shop( he's north of Brisbane) are 2 that I know of.
Keep the RS!

Don't sell it. If you want just put the standard carbie back on it for the time being until you get it sorted. It will be fine with that.

Just need carbie & manifold, a gasket and a few hours work. If you're stuck send me a PM and I'll give you a hand.

See ask and you will find someone! We don't have enough RS Mk2 Escort's like in the UK, so if you find a good one, keep it and enjoy the fun restoring/driving it!

where could i look for a manifold and gasket because i have neither unfortunately.

nev: would you suggest a carby conversion be a permanent thing? i recall a post from you on another thread explaining a couple tuned webers could go harder than an efi setup.
