Hi All,
I am planning on building a pinto in near future and I am hoping that some of you can help me to choose a suitable camshaft.
The bottom end is pretty standard, just 60thou over and balanced. I have two heads to choose from both with 45.5 inlet and 38.1 exhaust valves (from memory). One has large ports with a redline inlet manifold ported to suit and the other has more sensible looking sized ports.
I have twin 45mm webers with 36mm chokes and a new set of genie extractors.
I am hopeful of making 150+ HP however, most importantly I want it to be something that is not too much of a pig to drive on the street - this will be an weekend driven road car.
I have been considering something like a Kent RL30 cam, does anyone have any experience with these? I did use a Kent FR32 in essentially a standard pinto a few years back and it was very boring (despite all the hype in Classic Ford mag at the time), so I am a little weary of cam choice this time round.
In addition, it would also be good to find a contact in SE qld that can assist in setting up the head - I have killed many cam lobes on pintos over the years, so I would like to do it right this time. A recommendation for a good weber tuner would be great as well.
Cheers,
Damion
