i bought a set of TRW Forgies [or so i was told..]
and now im not so sure they are what i was told they are...
unfortunatley i bought these months/years? ago, and figured that ill probably never use them now, so ill sell them.
but can anyone tell me if they are any good?
just realised they're standard size too..
cheers.

Wouldnt the casting numbers on the underside indicate that they are cast and not forged?

They are cast. And appear to have a heap of detonation on that pitted one

iv never really seen forged pistons, so i cant really compare..
but theres no casting lines anywhere which threw me off i guess.

numbers match so they'll be forgies, they just have the lumpy tops taken off

thanks Joe.
i do remember looking them up ages ago, and i thought i found a reference to that number, and being trw's, but when i checked again, couldnt find anything, so started to seriously doubt myself.

I would guess that you shuld line up the little indent in the piston crown with the inlet valve. Having thouht about the pitting a bit more I think that you should trial build the block as the piston may come obove the deck. I had a set of TRW forged pistons and when they were machined flush with the deck all the indents for the valves were gone.
