RS Motorsport :: Classic Speed Restored

I am building a fairly robust 2ltr pinto for my escort at the moment. Just thought i would put up some pics of it so far. I am using 5.7" eagle conrods and custom made diamond racing pistons ( piston crowns are cnc machined to match a mould i have had taken of the combustion chamber. Sort of an experiment to gain good compression without shaving loads of meat off the head.I will be running a Clive Cams grind number 159 ( close to same spec as wade 520x ), large valves, ported german head, scorcher electronic ignition. Will be running 48 idf webers . Anyway, here are some pics... I will have some more as it goes together. If anyone has any advice on whether this piston shape will work well can you let me know if anyone has tried this kind of shape? I am also looking for good baseline jetting settings for my carbs.
They currently have 40mm chokes, 150mains, 55 idles and 180 air correctors and f2 emulsion tubes. The head should flow to about 200cfm
( I hope). If anyone can give me some feedback, either positive or negative I would appreciate it.

I had a huge problem getting those cam bearings. They are 10 thou. oversize OD. I got two of them ( original ford stock), from a guy named rowley in W.A. and the front one I had custom made by a good friend. Tony DeSensi @ ( Speedworks) in Ringwood Melbourne. Here is his number - 03 98760600.

Welcome to the forum Jules, and thank's for putting up some pics of your rebuild.

Good on you for having a go at something different. So with that piston crown what sort of compression will it have? Combustion chamber shape and volume have a profound effect in Pinto's and your design is something I've not seen before and it will be interesting to see what it makes in hp once its all screwed together.

Re your jet sizes, with 48's, the cam and compression it's going to have, I'd probably run the airs down around the 160 mark otherwise it runs the risk of leaning out in the top end. Make sure the first thing you do with it is get to a dyno to tune it all up properly.
