2 litre ring gear question

Team
I recently had my starter jam in the ring gear at an event. A bit of rocking in gear, pushing and swearing got it free and it fired up fine, no probs for the rest of the day.
I pulled the starter out and sent it off for a check up, all fine was the spark doctors opinion, pinion etc nice and clean, no obvious problems.
While I had the car up in the air I also lay under it and turned the engine over by hand while having a real good look at the condition of the ring gear, ie looking for chipped or broken teeth.
No probs there either with no obvious damage.
However, there were plenty of sharp edges on the ring gear teeth.
I am wondering if it is worthwile lying under there with a fine file and trying to take some of these sharp edges off? It would be tedious but is do-able through the starter hole in the bellhousing / engine sandwich plate.
Anyone done this? Had this problem? Do I just have another beer and put up with it?
