Hi

I seem to have a porous/cracked block ???? std pinto block bored to 92mm

Has anyone encounterd this before ?

Motor ran for a hour or so, when it cooled down it would not start again

Found one cyl was full of coolant, took the head off and it looks like it has seeped through the bore wall, it also feels like there is a slight crack in the bore wall about 50mm down

Did i just pick the wrong block to use ?

This block has had about 2.7 mm taken of the deck but there is no sign of leaking or cracking anywhere else

Anybody got a std or up to +020" block they want to sell ???

Roger $120.00 sounds much better than starting again with another block

Is 2- 3 hours running before having to strip a new motor down any sort of a record ??????? it was running very nicely when it ran

i lifted the head off my 2100 block about 8 yrs ago , sprayed some hylomar on the hd gasket & pretended not to see it
mmmmmm see no evil hear no evil
amazing what a blind spot can do to the temp/oil.p gauge -
helmet /earplugs & stereo can drone out these pesky noises
dont forget ? a 205 block was not even invented in those days
but my experience with those old cortina blocks never presented the problems like the escort blocks , just look at the diference between - mk2 axles & early cortina

i have never broken early cortina diffs or axles . only shitbox mk2 escort german crap
any input ?? from the lotus cortina guy,s ?
