Keith,
has it been running with the current setup before?? Is the cam timing 180deg out?. What is the timing set to. Are you getting pops or bangs out of the exhaust...

Gday Craig,
Hasn't been run with the current setup before, nothing out of the exhaust, but I am getting the drivers side carby throat spitting back when i stop cranking the car over.
The cam in the motor was timed up by broady back around the time of the last collie meet, and ran great back then. I have had the main belt off since then, so I might have done that wrong. Although I did line everything up like the book said to.. I'll recheck that tomorrow
Why would the battery terminals be getting hot though?

IT'S ALIIIVE!
Many, many thanks to Craig, Dani, Broady, Mikey and anyone else who's offered advice and helps.
It turned out to be the dizzy timing. My girlfriend was turning the engine over while I mucked around with the timing. Having a garage hand worked a treat, and the old girl fired up into smokey life.
It wouldn't idle without constant supervision, had no front grill, no alternator, night time, 3 flat tires and was covered in grease and oil, but girlfriend, puppydog and I crammed into the old girl for a quick cruise down the road and back. And she drove beautifully! (considering).
Now expect to see me posting lots of video's and questions about tuning the damn thing up. Anyone got any tips for a simple weber carbed 2 litre tuning wise? I was going to start with the timing light and some wd40 to clean out the carby.
